Managing Director of Social Security Insurance Fund for Farmers, Villagers and Nomad Affairs MohammadrezaVa’ezMahdavi made the remarks and said, “statistics showed that the country is home to more than 2,020,000 families who live in rural and nomadic areas of the country.”

In his meeting with Saeed JafariManaging Director of Barakat Foundation, affiliated to the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order, VaezMahdavi said, “rural families are vulnerable strata of society and we intend to put them under insurance services in the current year in 1398 (started Mar. 21, 2019).”

The said issue can be a pretext for establishing and strengthening bilateral cooperation with Barakat Foundation, affiliated to the EIKO, he highlighted.

“Our objectives in the Social Security Fund of Farmers, Villagers, and Nomads are in tandem with the policies of Barakat Foundation jointly, he said, adding, “effective and drastic measures have been conducted by Barakat Foundation, affiliated to EIKO, in rural areas of the country.”

According to the estimates, 49 institutions and organizations are active in rural areas and villages of the country, so that interaction, synergy, and exchange of information among them can cause more productivity which can empower rural communities of the country optimally, VaezMahdavi maintained.

Elsewhere in his remarks, VaezMahdavi reiterated, “studies conducted in the past 10 years show that income rate of villagers and farmers is half of the income rate of urban dwellers on average.”

Of course, there is a high gap in income rate of villagers, he said, adding, “for example, 80 percent of the rural population in Sistan and Baluchestan province is considered as the second decile of low-income strata of society. All of these estimations show that synergy and boosting cooperation between service-rendering institutions should be expanded and developed in villages more than before.”

He reiterated, “Barakat Foundation and Social Insurance Fund of Farmers, Villagers, and Nomads have concentrated on launching insurance services in rural areas of the country.”

Effective steps have been taken in line with insuring all villagers and farmers of the country, he stressed.

The government has undertaken to pay two-thirds of employer’s share in the process of insurance through the Social Insurance Fund of Villagers, Farmers, and Nomads. Today, “we have concluded contracts with some organizations such as Guild Trade Unions.”

Effective steps have been taken to insure villagers and farmers who enjoy rural employment services.

He put the current number of the retired in the Agricultural Insurance Fund at 1,000 while two million breadwinner families have been insured by the Fund, VaezMahdavi added.

In the end, Managing Director of Social Security Insurance Fund for Farmers, Villagers and Nomad Affairs MohammadrezaVa’ezMahdavi revealed the conclusion of a cooperation MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Barakat Foundation and added, “Barakat Foundation and Social Insurance Fund can establish constructive interaction and cooperation in the field of insuring agricultural products consecutively.”

In this meeting, Managing Director of Barakat Foundation Saeed Jafariemphasized on accelerating more constructive cooperation and collaboration with the Social Security Insurance Fund of Villagers, Farmers, and Nomads.

Barakat Foundation insured 2,800,000 people against incidents in the past year in 1397 (ended March 20, 2019), expandable to 11 million in the current year.

Relying upon the assistance of the Almighty God, it is hoped that Barakat Foundation will insure 11 million people across the country in the current year (started March 21, 2019), Jafari added.

There are various fields of cooperation between Barakat Foundation and Social Security Insurance Fund, he said, adding, “accordingly, rural houses in six provinces of the country were put under insurance coverage last year in 1397 (ended March 20, 2019).”

With the studies made in this regard, it is hoped that at least 50 percent of rural houses of the country will be insured in the current year in 1398 (started March 21, 2019), managing director of Barakat Foundation ended.

Ahmad Talebi added, “Barakat Foundation has started activity in the field of insuring agricultural, horticultural and poultry products. Of course, it is a difficult task, because, insurance companies have not so far taken any decisive measures in this field.”

Social Security Insurance Fund has 1,800 brokers across the country which are offering quality services to farmers, villagers and nomads, he said, adding, “it is hoped that we will take advantage of this capacity in cooperation with each other.”
