In parallel with the trip of Engineer Saeed Jafari, CEO of Barakat Foundation, to Hormoz Island, the sixth meeting of steering headquarter of the Island was held, which was attended by Dr. Fereydoon Hemmati, Hormozgan Governor-General, and executive directors of the province, Society-based entrepreneurship Development Deputy of Barakat Foundation reported.
In this meeting, the approvals made during the last trip of Dr. Muhammad Mokhber, president of the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order (EIKO), to Hormozgan Province were analyzed and they discuss how they need to implement the all-embracing and stable development plan of Hormoz Island and also the measures any related organization needs to do were set.
For the development process of Island Hormoz which is done based on a study deed, Barakat Foundation, an affiliated foundation of the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order (EIKO), will create 400 job opportunities in the framework of society-based economic model of ASEMAN in the Hormoaz Island with the aim of job creation, deprivation eradication, economic and social empowerment of the Island by the yearend. In the ASEMAN initiative, initially some 15 to 20-member developmental groups are formed, then some business funds are developed and each member can take loans with 4 percent interest (at most 400 million rials) and he/she should reimburse it within four years. Since the basis of development in Hormoz Island is based on tourism, all job opportunities will be defined in the same field.
In his one-day tour to Hormoz Island, CEO of Barakat Foundation, an affiliated foundation of the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order (EIKO), visited entrepreneurial projects of this foundation including carpet weaving plant with the capacity of creating jobs for 60 people. Also, it was supposed that 11 inns equipped with proper services and facilities for tourists to be introduced to the agent bank for taking loans and also proper vehicles are provided for providing transportation services to tourists in the framework of ASEMAN society-based economic empowerment plans to the applicants.
These activities are aimed at creating direct jobs, preparing necessary attractions and also providing sufficient facilities for accommodating passengers and improving tourism in the Hormoz Island. Currently, despite travel of many tourists to this Island, there are no accommodation facilities for a nocturnal stay there.
Barakat Foundation, an affiliated foundation of the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order (EIKO), has also paved the way for the education of social issues on certain areas such as legal, political, social, psychological, etc aspects in the framework of holding classes for people of Hormoz Island.
It is necessary to say that in the all-embracing and sustainable development plan of Hormoz Island, given sufficient studies about capacities and capabilities of the Island, development of tourism as an industry with the capacity of recruiting considerable workforce and little capital and ability to develop sustainable employment as the best model of development has been defined.
After preparing all-embracing and sustainable development plan of Hormoz Island and its approval by the planning council of the Hormozgan Province, a total of 98 projects were defined in the framework of this plan by which the unemployment and deprivation problems will be eradicated completely in the Island.
These projects will be implemented by the private sector, organizations which are active in the field of infrastructures, popular cooperatives with the supports of Barakat Foundation and Hormozgan Provincial Government. Also, the local workforce of Hormoz Island will be trained in order to acquire skills and knowledge related to tourists and serving them. Besides the tourism industry, other fields such as handicrafts, fishery etc. have been paid attention in the all-embracing and sustainable development plan of Hormoz Island.
The term predicted for implementation of the all-embracing and sustainable development plan of Hormoz Island is three years which given cooperation and follow-ups of Barakat Foundation and Hormozgan Provincial Government, it is predicted that all projects defined in this plan to be launched by the end of 1398. Full implementation of the all-embracing and sustainable development plan of Hormoz Island will make this Island one of the successful model of the regional development.
