Dispatching Caravans of “Salamat-e Ehsan” to the Deprived Parts of the Country
President of the Execution of Imam Khomeini Order (EIKO), considered healthcare as one of the main components of the modern lifestyle and emphasized: “Both the state and quality of healthcare of the society has been improved considerably and it is incomparable with what it was before the Islamic Revolution.”

 Speaking in the ceremony held on the occasion of dispatching Salamat-e Ehsan Jihadi Caravans to 1000 deprived areas of the country, Dr. Muhammad Mokhber, the President of the Execution of Imam Khomeini Order (EIKO), said: “Before the Islamic Revolution, the average life expectancy in Iranians was 50 years, while today the average has reached 75 years. During the last regime era, 80 percent of the country’s villages were devoid of the preliminary sanitary facilities.”

Explaining about measurements made by EIKO on healthcare area, the president of EIKO said, “We have launched and operationalized 11 hospitals with the capacity of 2500 beds across the country and there are some hospitals which are being constructed now. Likewise, construction of four advanced cancer therapy centers has been put atop agenda and a total of 154 House of Healthcare have been built across the country. 60000 prescriptions of patients with cancer have been covered by EIKO.”

 Pointing to the fact that 96 percent of the necessary medicines are produced inside the country, he stated, “Only four percent of the required medicines are imported, but they account for about 35 percent of the national medicinal costs. By constructing a Medicinal Zone and inviting all active factories and companies of high-tech industries, EIKO has succeeded to save about 150 billion rials in the country’s medicinal costs.”

Elsewhere in his remarks, Dr. Mokhber emphasized that people in our system are the pivot and said that today the biggest and most important commitment of authorities is serving people.

“The late Imam Khomeini (RA) after the victory of the Islamic Revolution said that we are seeking for the formation of a 20-million army and he said that when Iran had just 30 million population. This sentence meant that all people who live in the country are responsible for everything. We have been the victor in all crises and calamities when our people used to participate,” he added.

Stressing the fact that people will defend the revolution’s basis, Dr. Mokhber said, “There is nothing in the country to worry about, and it is the enemies who should afraid of Iran. We need to bring people into the all-out economic war which has brought about by our enemies. Today we face with the livelihood problems which are conspiracies of our enemies and we need to solve the problem with the help of our people.”

Referring to establishment of Barakat Ehsan Foundation, he stated: “We have seen important and wide activities within several past months from this foundation including sending dowries to the less-developed parts of the country, participation in cochlear implant operations for the deaf children and preparing and sending stationery packs to children in the deprived areas.”

Pointing to launching Salamat Ehsan Caravans, the President of the Execution of Imam Khomeini Order (EIKO) said, “This action was designed in order to serve the needy patients who live in the deprived areas of the country. Targeting for 1000 deprived points in the country has been started and the caravans will be dispatched to the less-developed areas. It has been supposed that 7 patents to be visited and treated by such caravans each day.

 

Special Attention to the Healthcare of People in the Deprived Areas

Another speaker of this ceremony was the Dr. Muhammad Vadood Heydari, vice chairman of Barakat Ehsan Social Foundation, who said, “Ehsan Salamat Caravans have been equipped to serve 1000 deprived points of the country and they will start their works since today.

Dr. Vadood Heydari said, “One of the important issues to which EIKO has paid special attention within the recent years is the healthcare of people living in the deprived areas, as during the past days we saw the inauguration of health-based measurements of EIKO. Treating incurable and chronic diseases are among the good measures made by EIKO which has covered people in the deprived areas.”

Pointing to the ceremony of dispatching Salamat-e Ehsan Caravans to 1000 deprived of the country, he explained, “There are three trailers equipped with medical equipment, 2 service trailers and 2 trucks equipped with the medical equipment have been activated and 10 tents with 600 sq-ms, which can house for 140 beds are ready to be sent to the deprived areas.”

Pointing to this fact that Iran is ranked amongst the 10 top countries which are menaced by the natural hazards, Dr. Heydari said, “These caravans are ready to offer services in the time of crises and they are also able to serve people maximum 15 days without being plugged in the urban electricity and water network.”

“We have seen eye-catching achievements, whenever we asked the Jihadi groups to do something, for this reason, to provide these services we will use Jihadi physicians and groups and we will plan a 10-day period for enrolling voluntary Jihadists who intend to take part in this mission,” he added.

Finally, he stated hopes that as the results of these efforts, Salamat Ehsan Caravans to be equipped more than ever and operating rooms as well as dentistry services to be added to them in the near future.
