EIKO will support flood-affected people of this southern province wholeheartedly, he emphasized.

Dr. Mohammad Mokhber attended flood-hit areas of Khuzestan province and was briefed on the requirements and demands of people affected by the devastating flood in the early hours of the current year (started March 21, 2019).

He pointed to the construction and deployment of seven bases by EIKO in the flood-hit provinces of the country and added, “from the beginning of outbreak of flood in provinces of the country, EIKO set up seven relief bases in the flood-hit provinces of the country including Golestan, Mazandaran, Fars, Lorestan, Ilam, North Khorasan and Khuzestan provinces.”

He put the number of relief bases constructed and installed by the EIKO in provinces of the country at seven and said, “presently, all these bases are offering quality relief services to the flood-affected people of these provinces across the country.”

In his recent meeting with the officials of the country, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei emphasized the need to settle problems facing flood-affected people across the country immediately and issued necessary orders in this respect.”

He once again reiterated that EIKO will stand by the flood-affected people of this southern province from the earliest time of food up to the end of complete removal of the problem of these people.

Compensating the damages caused by the devastating flood to rural houses of Khuzestan province, which had already been insured by the contracting party of Barakat Foundation, a subsidiary of EIKO, is under study, he added.

He pointed out that three relief-rendering headquarters of EIKO has been set up in northern and southern Khuzestan province in the cities of Ahvaz, Dezful, and Hoveyzeh, adding, “these headquarters are offering quality relief and rescue services to people in critical condition.”

These three headquarters have thus far embarked on distributing essential supplies and items required by flood-affected people such as tents, blankets, mineral waters (PET bottles), canned food, loaves of bread, warm foods, fresh dates, infant formulas, sanitary and hygienic items, etc.

Elsewhere in his remarks, head of EIKO said, “the order of provision of fodder and forage (1,000 tons) for livestock and animals of flood-hit people has been issued in Elhaei, Shoaybieh and Karun districts of Khuzestan province.”

EIKO has so far transferred 114 equipment and machinery including dump trucks, loaders, excavators, mechanical shovels and boats to these regions in order to help flood-stricken people, he added.

Also, EIKO has sent two mobile medical- treatment units to the flood-hit areas within the framework of social activities of Barakat Foundation entitled “Ehsan Plan”, he said, adding, “accordingly, EIKO has treated a number of 7,000 noble people of Khuzestan province and also has provided them with dozens of drugs and medicine.”

It is worth mentioning that Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order (EIKO) in cooperation with other responsible service-rendering organizations has embarked on meeting essential requirements of flood-hit people of this province from the beginning of the outbreak of flood.

Moreover, Barakat Foundation, affiliated to the EIKO, has focused on creating new employment opportunities in target provinces within the framework of economic empowerments of people in Khuzestan province and flood-hit areas of this province, the issue of which has been put atop agenda in the current year in 1398 (started March 21, 2019), Dr. Mokhber emphasized.

It should be noted that Barakat Foundation generated 2,000 employment plans in Khuzestan province, he said, adding, “since many jobs created by the Foundation are in the field of light livestock, effective steps have been taken by EIKO in order to compensate a part of damages caused by flood in this province.”
