To meet this mission, Barakat Foundation started to compile some innovative strategies to attract the comprehensive participation of the local society and to empower them in order to improve people’s welfare level and to pave the way for the sustainable development in the target areas. The result of this focus has been designing various models and patterns to eradicate poverty and deprivation based on the definition and implementation of a set of field studies and surveys, targeted analysis of various national and international experiences on eradication of deprivation in which not only the route has been depicted, but also it has been explained about the organization and how other sectors, including private and public as well as NGOs, would participate and the role which would be played by each stockholder have been defined in this arena.
In the same regard, Barakat Foundation has compiled a model regarding the condition and specifications of various parts of the country focusing on a broader level. This model, titled “Directive of Popular Investment and Employment of Manpower- ASEMAN” is seeking for the realization of a comprehensive growth across the deprived regions and development of business and employment based on a sustainable livelihood approach. ASEMAN is a way of forming a link between the social and economic capitals in a society with all opportunities and limitations of the real world. It forms a bridge, made of contribution, the social and economic development between the society’s capability and local marketplaces. It also paves the way for strengthening the demand and supply cycle, as a bedrock for producing income and creating employment across cities and counties of the country.
“Directive for Poverty Eradication and Empowerment of Barakat- AFTAB” is another model used by Barakat Foundation. It is aimed at assisting acceleration of poverty eradication process through empowering local communities based on taking advantage of a contributive approach and social action instead of brokering. Under the broad coverage of AFTAB, before determining local capacities to carry out and extend business, empowerment process begins in order to allow the local people to contribute considerably in making decisions and taking responsibilities. There is no doubt that, Barakat Foundation believes that tackling poverty and deprivation depends on this fact that people would be able to take advantage of necessary capabilities to identify local opportunities and limits and to gain living knowledge and skill in the environmental condition.
And finally, we have MAHTAB or “Barakat’s Economic Effort of Directing Model” which is known as the third wing and completing the ring of the village’s development model. MAHTAB is going to link AFTAB and ASEMAN collections through offering some small business initiatives and models based on the rural fields and capacities. If in the ASEMAN model we are seeking for small and domestic production and in AFTAB we are seeking to support and supply the production cycle, in MAHTAB we show the business models.
Small rural businesses have certain capabilities relying on which we can affect the economic and social development of villages considerably. However, lack of a proper model and initiative is one of the important factors which prevent such business to boom and promote and to gain proper attention from the villagers. Thus, the Research and Development Committee of Barakat Foundation has tried to tackle this obstacle through providing MAHTAB collection. It also tries to help the development and promotion of the mentioned businesses by offering some proper models and initiative which are compatible with the local and rural condition.
