According to the Public Relations Department of the Barakat Foundation, the ceremony for operationalizing the national project of Barakat’s Pharmaceutical Industrial Town, as the biggest professional pharmaceutical town of the region and unveiling nine new medicines on cell therapy, producing the pharmaceutical raw materials and chemical medicines was held. It was attended by the chairman of the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order, Minister of Health and Medical Education, Alborz Governor-General and executive directors and a group of national and provincial authorities.
In this ceremony, Dr. Muhammad Mokhber, chairman of the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order, announced about 120 billion tomans reduction in the pharmaceutical costs and expenses of people with cancers and incurable diseases and reiterated, “we, in the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order, are not seeking for gaining profits through producing medicines, while involvement of EIKO with the medicine production is sorted out as the EIKO’s social activities.”
Emphasizing the necessity of public mobilization in the field of production and self-efficiency in producing medicines, Dr. Mokhber said, “Assisting to establish the pharmaceutical security and safety in the country is one of the key strategies of the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order. Western states claim that they have excluded foodstuff and medicines from their sanctions, but it is nothing but a big lie and trick. Their excuse-makings and strictness in taking costs, have made problematic importing new medicines.
He announced about readiness of the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order to transfer its pharmaceutical companies and factories to the private sector and added: “Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order is ready to work and cooperate with both private sector and active institutes in the field of medicines.”
Pointing to the fact that the Islamic Revolution’s Leader has proposed a strategy and roadmap, he said, “Emphasizing the national prosperity is the most strategic thing which can make us safely from the bottleneck of sanctions and economic pressures. The second step of the revolution statement is like a roadmap for the future. If the economic activists consider these two facts, we will pass the current strict condition safely.”
Finally, the chairman of Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order asked all of the economic activists to reduce as much as USD 500 million from the size of pharmaceutical imports within the coming 1.5 years. He also stressed that EIKO will spare no efforts to reach this aim and it even is ready to take the risk of investing in this area.
At the end of the ceremony, 9 medicines in the fields of cell therapy, producing the pharmaceutical raw materials and chemical medicines were unveiled and also some of the practitioners who played key roles in the construction of the town and senior managers of EIKO were appreciated. Chairman of the Execution of Imam Khomeini’s Order also appreciated the households of noble martyrs Fallahi Arezoodar, Shirzadi, Zivari, Bahrami, Kalantari, Mirghazi Saeed and Asadollahi.
